Teen Levels 2018-2019 (ages 11-18)

Dancers at this age are offered a wide variety of styles to continue their progression as a well-rounded performer.

BALLET

A Traditional Style of dance that enables dancers to strengthen their center, find poise, and practice gracefulness through learning technique and long lines. Barre Work, Center Work, and Variations are practiced. Russian, Italian, and French schools of technique are taught. Ballet is the basis of all other styles of dance and contributes to the success of them as well. Ballet must be taken in order for a student to take Lyrical & Contemporary.

POINTE

Pointe is the practice of learning and executing Ballet steps while wearing Pointe shoes. When dancers exhibit a strong background in Ballet, they may be ready to participate in Pointe classes. Starting at ages 12-14, students will be allowed to take Pointe if they exhibit strong ankles, legs, turn -out, and the ability to execute ballet Technique properly.  It is at the discretion of the director whether a student is ready for Pointe of not.

TAP

Tap is a fun-filled class of traditional Tap steps from shuffles to maxi-fords to fast tap steps as pull backs and glides. Tap is a great style of dance that enhances memorization skills and gross motor skill technique. Dancers who take Tap can think quickly on their feet and can count and replicate rhythms.Tap is exciting and challenging for all who try it out!

JAZZ

Jazz is a type of dance with a wide spectrum of styles. There is Traditional, Funk, Rock, Pop, Broadway, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Contemporary, Modern, Hip Hop and more. Throughout our Jazz classes, our students will learn all of these styles. Studying multiple Jazz styles will ultimately teach our dancers to be versatile and well-rounded performers. Jazz classes include stretching, isolations, ab workouts, across the floor combinations and exercises, barre work, and choreography in the center.

HIP HOP

Hip Hop is a funky style of Jazz that is so popular that it has it's own class times. We only teach age-appropriate dance moves to all of our students. Our music is also age-appropriate as well as our choices in costuming. Dancers will learn funky moves and become coordinated. Each class begins with a great stretch, a follow along warm-up, and finish off with a fun-filled combination. 

LYRICAL

Lyrical is the combination of Ballet& Jazz styles of dance. It's combination creates a beautiful style of dance that brings the dancer to a new level of awareness as she/he performs. Focusing on the lyrics of the song help the dancers to hear a story line, feel the emotions, and portray that on stage. Fluidity, grace, and precise movements make for a wonderful style to master.

CONTEMPORARY

Contemporary has become very popular over the past10 years or so. It is a continuation of Lyrical but with a Modern twist. Dancers learn how to tell a story with Contemporary.

They learn to mix Modern Jazz with Lyrical to create a dynamic performance style.

*** Ballet must be taken in order for a student to take Lyrical & Contemporary.

Dancers may choose to take all classes offered or focus on specific styles that they enjoy.

Placement in a level is at the discretion of the director, who collaborates and plans with 

each teacher based on how each student does within a class/level and on stage from the previous year.

During the placement process, we carefully choose the level that is best suited for each dancer in regards

to their learning style, commitment level, experience, personality, & physical readiness.

It is a process that we take very seriously and do it with our dancer's best interest at heart.

Along with promoting a safe and educational environment, we want our dancer's to grow as performers physically as well as mentally,

nurturing the growth of their Self-esteem and confidence along the way.

1 hour per week: $55 per mth

2 hours per week: $ 86 per mth

3 hours per week: $112 per mth

4 hours per week: $130 per mth

5 hours per week: $ 146 per mth

5.5 hours per week: $156 per mth

6 hours per week: $160 per mth

6.5 hours per week: $165 per mth

7.15 hours per week: $173 per mth
